When the then 19-year-old Laura Müller beamed from the cover of “Playboy” in 2020, the world was different. She was the number one topic of conversation in the German celebrity world and raked in countless advertising deals. Her career as an influencer was skyrocketing and a life of fame, glitz and glamor awaited her. But then her husband Michael Wendler decided to turn everything upside down, to cling to all the conspiracy theorists and thus put an abrupt end to his and Laura’s career.
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of “Playboy”, magazine boss Florian Boitin spoke to the Bild now about the most influential cover stars. And that probably includes Laura Müller. After all, the issue with the influencer on the cover was a real bestseller. At that time he was very impressed by the young woman, who also made for high ratings on TV. “I had seen her during ‘Summer House’ and noticed that after she left, the ratings went down,” remembers Boitin. It quickly became clear to him that she would also draw everyone’s attention on the “Playboy” cover.
When the shooting finally took place, Laura’s husband, the fallen pop star Michael Wendler, is said to have been there. According to Boitin, he was flattered that his wife was getting the chance to grace Playboy. In addition, he probably also recognized an opportunity for himself to boost his music career again.
“Playboy” comeback on one condition
It even worked to a certain extent. Playboy sales also skyrocketed. “I never in my wildest dreams expected that the issue would trigger such a hype”, said the magazine boss in an interview with the German newspaper. Of course, you could also imagine a second edition with Laura Müller. However, there is one condition here.
For another cover with the now 21-year-old, one thing would have to change. “As long as Laura is with Michael Wendler, there will be no second shoot with her”, Florian Boitin clarifies. However, that shouldn’t happen anytime soon. Because even after all the headlines that are circulating about Michael Wendler and his Laura, the influencer still stands by her husband. The couple currently lives in Florida and earns their money with an OnlyFans account.
