A footballer comes in as a substitute, then deliberately makes two own goal in a short time. He then claimed to be praised and that he did just to mess things up bet in score setting.
Launch citisportsonline and SportsBible, this controversy occurred in a football match in Ghana involving the club Inter Allies and Ashanti Gold — Ashgold.
Ashgold won over Inter Allies in that match with a landslide score of seven goals without reply, aka 7-0. Two of the goals were the result of an own goal by Hashmin Musah.
Musah came on as a substitute for Allies, when his team went down 0-5. Within 12 minutes, Hashmin Musah scored twice in his own net.
Controversy increased because after the match, Musah admitted that he received praise from his technical team after doing this own goal twice in the game. He also mentioned a scenario score setting that he wants to disperse.
“After the game, my technical team praised me for messing up a bet that was made earlier. I did promise the coach that if he played me as a substitute, I would mess that bet.
In an interview with Kumasi FM, Hashmin Musah again explained the same thing. According to him, he deliberately made two own goal in order to avoid his team losing 1-5. The reason being, that score was what he claimed to have become bet.
“At the hotel, I heard there was a 5 to 1 goal bet for the loss of my team, Inter Allies. I decided to mess up bet That’s because I don’t like that kind of thing,” he said.
This controversy itself, let alone raises the claim of the existence of score setting, making the Ghana Football Federation directly intervene to investigate. They have even informed the police to participate in investigating the alleged crime.
Meanwhile Ashgold, the winning team in this match, has issued an official statement denying the existence of ‘elephant football’, while insisting their players behave professionally throughout the game.
