Football: “Tacheles!”: Hertha BSC calls on fans on Twitter for frustration talk

Hertha has been in a sporting nosedive for weeks, the frustration among the fans is great. The social media department has now taken an unusual step.

How liberating it can be to get worked up about trivial things like a lousy football team – this is seldom as clear as it is these days. For many, bullying and scolding is part of it Soccer as well as the stadium sausage. And yet it was a daring experiment that Hertha BSC Berlin’s social media team staged on Monday. Under the simple slogan “Tacheles”, the Bundesliga club asked their fans via Twitter to give them their opinion digitally.

A demanded escalation on social media – it looks like entering a burning house with two petrol cans. In fact, there was plenty of verbal abuse for the Big City Club, which is currently in the greatest danger of relegation. In addition to criticism of the coach, tactics, players and club management in all variants, there was also creative malice, sometimes communicated only in capital letters. One of the many disappointed Hertha fans wrote: “To quote my parents: I’m not even angry, I’m just disappointed.”

Above all, fans of opposing teams participated actively

The call made the rounds, especially among opposing fans. A supporter of the table neighbors VfB Stuttgart broke a lance for the coach, which was probably not meant to be taken seriously: “Please hold on to Tayfun Korkut!”, while a Bremen player showed less mercy. Hertha is really bad. The fact that Davie Selke, who was previously loaned to Werder, is now back in Berlin is a great thing. “Thanks for that!” On the other hand, a fan of third division first team Magdeburg was looking forward to the games between the two teams in the coming season.

After all: there was respect for the pitiful social media team in Berlin. The verdict of a user: If the players were as capable of suffering as the people who look after Hertha’s Twitter account, a lot would have been gained.
