Leipzig took back its good: robbed this weekend of its place on the podium of the German Championship, the RB climbed on the third step of the Bundesliga, by winning over Cologne (4-2), Monday at the end of the 29th day.
Pressure was high on Julian Nagelsmann’s men. Friday, the RB had seen Bayer Leverkussen, winner of Freiburg (1-0), take him third place, before Mönchengladbach’s victory over Union Berlin (4-1) on Sunday relegated him to 5th position, threatening seriously its place for the next Champions League.
First led
Feverish at the start, Leipzig, first led, nevertheless managed to regain its senses to prevail thanks to an avalanche of goals from Patrick Schick, Christopher Nkunku, Timo Werner and Dani Olmo.
After four draws recorded in its last 5 games, the RB thus managed to return to victory and won three precious points. He now points to two units behind the dolphin, Dortmund, before a next game within his reach on Saturday against the red lantern, Paderborn.
Conversely, Cologne, which has failed to win any success (2 draws, 2 losses) since the post-coronavirus recovery, remains stuck in the soft stomach of the ranking, in 11th place.

In front of the stands, which are still empty due to coronavirus, Leipzig, once again little concentrated at the start of the match, was cold picked by the men of Markus Gisdol, who opened the scoring in the 7th minute on a realization by Jhon Cordoba.
But a little more than ten minutes later, Schick came with a header to offer equalization to his team (20th). Nkunku then allowed the RB to come back to the lead shortly before the break (38th).
Returning from the locker room, Werner widened the gap (50th), scoring his 25th goal of the season. The superb strike from Anthony Modeste (55th) briefly restored hope in Cologne, just before Olmo came to shower definitively (57th).
