Football Federation decides to cancel playoffs for entering the Premier League / Article / LSM.lv

The Board of the Latvian Football Federation (LFF) has decided that the playoffs for entering the 2021 Premier League Championship will be canceled and the owner of the 9th place in the 2020 Premier League Championship will retain his place in the Premier League next season, informs Iļja Poļakovs.

LFF received a submission from the second place winner of the 1st league FK “Auda”, which states that due to Covid-19 some of the team’s players are in self-isolation and will not be ready for the playoffs, which according to the rules had to take place in early December. The fight for the ninth place in the Premier League is not over yet, and adjustments can be made to the final Premier League games scheduled for Sunday.

In fairness, it should be said that Auda’s replays could not be played from a legal point of view, the restrictions on the distribution of Covid-19 in the territory of the Republic of Latvia stipulate that currently sports federations are allowed to organize only top league competitions involving adult athletes. have a main job and who do not perform other job responsibilities.

If the passions of staying in the Premier League continue, then everything is clear with the 1st league – due to restrictions, the championship was terminated prematurely, and the winner was the Daugavpils “Lokomotiv” unit, which will spend the next season in the Premier League. “Auda” took the second place, and if there are hopes that there will be a rematch with the winner of the ninth place in the Premier League, in case of victory it would allow this club to enter the highest football society in Latvia.
