Football: Djurgården crushes IFK Gothenburg – after the red card

It was an intense start to the match with several hard duels.

Kolbeinn Thordarson received a relatively cheap yellow card after a duel with Djurgården’s Rasmus Schüller, where the latter landed badly. He then limped off the field with a suspected broken foot.

But just minutes later, Thordarson intercepted Piotr Johansson in the middle of the pitch. A second yellow card and sent off after two cards in two minutes.

Djurgården then broke the deadlock after Gustav Svensson got the ball on his hand in the penalty area. Marcus Danielson easily made it 1-0 from the penalty spot.

Before the second half was over, Lucas Bergvall had made it 2-0 via a header and Gustav Svensson was not satisfied.

– We don’t even get the chance to give it a fair match. We knew in advance that it would be 17,000 and it will be a hit, it must be able to do that in Swedish football. After 27 minutes we have four yellows and they have 0. Unfortunately we lose the game there. Then we try to fight on, but Djurgården is too good to play with one less man.

Do you feel disadvantaged today?

– Judges shouldn’t bother too damn much, it’s two yellow cards three minutes apart.

Djurgården continued its dominance in the second half when Miro Tenho and Tobias Gulliksen made it 4-0.

Blåvitt then got a consolation goal when substitute new acquisition Paulos Abraham put a rebound into the goal.

Bergvall, who played a good game, was satisfied after the win.

– It’s incredibly fun to have the boys behind you and everyone comes here today and just drives. Then we must not concede a goal, really unnecessary. But we have improved significantly since the pre-season.
