Nothing is yet official, but it seems more and more likely that Olivier Pickeu will become in the coming days the future “Head of football” of Olympique de Marseille.
A true specialist in the French transfer window, the former director general of the Angers SCO, however, was not unanimous among OM supporters. Indeed, it has not escaped anyone’s notice that Olivier Pickeu was dismissed for serious misconduct by the SCO, and that the latter received an incentive for each capital gain during the transfer window. Methods that don’t please, but are not illegal. In an interview with Le Phocéen, the Angers journalist Quentin Bossé explained the terms and benefits of Olivier Pickeu’s contract with SCO before his departure.
“He had a concrete contract, with 5% on the capital gains made on player sales. He is even present abroad, notably in Portugal thanks to his good relations with Jorge Mendes. He puts forward the feeling and the energies, with a little guru side to talk to the players. He is smart and charming and knows how to communicate with everyone, including journalists, and this is a real asset. He is also involved in the field, as we have seen in his collaboration with Stéphane Moulin with whom they have built the team over the long term in a very precise game project. I am not surprised to see him announced at OM or Monaco, because he really has this profile of modern sports director focused on scouting and trading, including in financial negotiations “ said the journalist from Western Mail. A priori, Olivier Pickeu does not have much of a king of scheming. It remains to be seen what Jacques-Henri Eyraud will say.
