A floating solar park at the Frisian Nij Beets came loose last night due to heavy weather and was partly hit ashore. The extent of the damage is not yet known.
Energy company GroenLeven, one of the developers of the solar park, makes an inventory of the damage and tries to repair it as soon as possible. “At the moment I can say that no panels have hit the water”, a spokesman said Omrop Fryslân.
The park with 33,000 solar panels was in the final construction phase and was not yet connected to the grid. Next week, the temporary anchoring would be converted into a permanent anchoring. The park would therefore be put into use.
It is not known how long it will take for the park to provide energy.
