The corona pandemic has brought about changes in everyday professional and private life for many people. The longer the crisis lasts, the more people are affected. People in need of support, minorities or children and young people are particularly affected. In the past, offers and help were often restricted or were completely absent due to the corona pandemic. Many people lack social contacts and encounters. With the virus came fears because nobody knows how the pandemic will develop. Uncertainty takes the place of lost certainty.
“What are the social consequences? Who else is coming? ”- these are the questions that“ 11. Social Policy Forum in the Offenbach District ”on Thursday, November 2nd, at 4 pm via the Zoom platform. The organizers are the Offenbach district, the Evangelical Deanery Dreieich-Rodgau, the Catholic Deaneries Dreieich, Rodgau and Seligenstadt and the German Federation of Trade Unions in Southeast Hesse. The political scientist and poverty researcher Professor Dr. In his opening lecture, Christoph Butterwegge deals with the challenges that society is facing in connection with the pandemic. Representatives of the Diakonisches Werk Offenbach-Dreieich-Rodgau, the youth department of the city of Rödermark, the DGB Hessen-Thuringia, economic and structural policy department, as well as the organizational team will also take part in the discussion.
The talks are about global and national, but above all about social issues and concrete changes in the Offenbach district. Another topic to be discussed is corona-related deterioration in people’s everyday lives. The focus of the approximately three-hour forum is the question of what should be preserved and which new instruments are needed in order to master the new challenges in society?
