By supporting the making of new films and sixteen young film professionals, film friends and enthusiasts are invited to support the film-making process by donating the project “Seven Genre Short Films” to the LKA collective investment platform “Projektu banka” until April 24.

The aim of the project is to raise 3,000 euros, which will be used for the specific purposes of each film, but will mainly cover technical and artistic needs, such as decorations, rental of premises, purchase of props, etc. (students are provided with filming techniques by NFS). Students are invited to follow the process of making films Facebook page.

The filming process will take place between May and June 2021. During these months, seven short films of different genres will be made – comedy, horror film, psychological horror film, absurd comedy, comedy with elements of western and musical film, romantic criminal comedy and road movie. It is planned that viewers will be able to see the films on the screens at the end of 2021.

In the horror film “Break” (directed by Elza Viktorija Zorgevica), despite the requests of family members, a young girl named Vika arrives at her father’s apartment to celebrate his birthday together. However, instead of the father, the girl is referred to only by strange cries, which encourages Viku to go in search of her father, at the same time fighting with unfathomable evil and doubts about her own reason.

The psychological horror film “Bodyless” (directed by Reinis Ūbelis) is a story about a soul who, after a violent death, seeks a way back to the living world, and about the cruel truth that death is inevitable. It is 1919. War is raging in the territory of Latvia, and as a result many Latvian riflemen are falling, including Thomas. His dead-frozen body enters a mysterious room where it suddenly wakes up and begins to seek its way out, but it soon becomes clear that Thomas is not the only one who has awakened in this darkness of the grave.

The absurd comedy “Success is with us” (director Edgar Kaupers) This might seem like a classic Friday night to a couple of free thinkers, Daniel and Victoria. While enjoying a drink at a local roadside bar, Daniel is unexpectedly struck by a heart attack, and his rescue mission becomes an amusing mule of adventure, which draws the helpful bar visitor Sven. Sven doesn’t even realize that Daniel and Victoria are a hardened couple of thieves, and very soon he will learn that a heart attack is just part of a staged plan. What happens next? This will be a fun story about theft, love, and the unfathomable ways of life.

Comedy with elements of western and musical film “Malduguns” (director Ildze Felsberga). A group from the city stops to play a concert in a country pub. After the performance, the group’s double bass player decides not to go further with the group members, but to stay for a glass of whiskey. However, when the full moon goes down and the morning dawns, he discovers that the hospitable invitation to stay will be completely foreign.

Romantic criminal comedy “Bottle Neck” (director Edvards Mikāls). Late in the evening, Robis comes home from the store and enjoys loneliness until he is interrupted by a phone call from his girlfriend Sabine and an accidental encounter with a suspicious man. Soon, Robim is up to his neck tonight.

Road movie “August 17” (director Betija Zvejniece). Adaptation to Andris Kalnozols’ poem “Peter”. Peter spends his days in the tractor cab, listens only to the radio and does nothing else, until he and his wife miraculously win the radio competition. He travels in a tractor to the city after the prize, hoping to dispel the regret of an unfulfilled life.
