The headquarters in Burgas will meet next week. The data from the RZI and RU of the Ministry of Education and Culture are awaited in order to make a final decision

The flu epidemic is in full swing. Today, the health authorities in Plovdiv decided that the students will switch to an online form of education from Tuesday until the end of the term – February 5.

In Burgas, the headquarters must meet on Tuesday, but it is not excluded that it will be urgently called by the regional governor tomorrow. The data of the Regional Health Inspection and RU of the Ministry of Education and Culture in Burgas are awaited in order to assess whether it is necessary to take additional measures.

Last week, the regional headquarters united around the idea of declaring a flu epidemic in Burgas, but not a flu vacation. (SEE HERE) As of last Tuesday, about 20% of students were absent from classes in schools, and a little over 50% in kindergartens. The region was still below the cutoff benchmarks.

The decision has been made, the students go to online training

Certainly, measures will be taken next week, but what they will be, one can only guess. If the experience of Plovdiv is followed, the students will undergo an online form of education.

See what is the opinion on this topic of one of the best educational experts in the country, Diyan Stamatov, director of the 119th SU in Sofia:

The growing number of absent students should be a serious signal to the municipal crisis headquarters, to the RZI, that the health of adolescents is at some risk. Their role is vital for everyone, extremely socially responsible! Now imagine all those sick students with fevers, headaches, lethargy being ushered into an online classroom.

It will not be in force, but with distance learning, the main emphasis will be on the lessons for new knowledge, which if the students do not attend, it will be difficult for them to catch up on the material.

It is not right to put the students in such a situation. Difficult even for an adult. Under the current conditions of an upcoming flu epidemic, it is good to have 3-4 days of VACATION, only after that to think about online training! But this can only be decided by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health and if they sit down together to discuss an action plan! We can only share an opinion…
