“Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Announces Presidential Candidacy for 2024 Election”

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is running for president next year. DeSantis, 44, has applied to the Electoral Commission. DeSantis’ candidacy has been long anticipated.

He is participating in the Republican race to become their candidate and is the main rival of former President Donald Trump, who also wants to run again in the November 2024 elections. Incumbent President Joe Biden will then participate again on behalf of the Democrats.

DeSantis announced his candidacy via a video on Twitter. He was actually supposed to talk to Twitter owner Elon Musk about his ambitions to get into the White House in a live broadcast on Twitter. But that was difficult. The sound kept cutting out and after 20 minutes the whole broadcast stopped.

A few minutes later the program started again. According to the governor, the Republican Party needs to end the “culture of losses that has infected the party in recent years. We need to look forward, not backward,” he said.

DeSantis has been touring the United States in recent weeks. He visited states such as Iowa and New Hampshire.

DeSantis is considered a very conservative candidate. He is against stricter gun laws and in favor of stricter abortion rules. He has also introduced a law that restricts discussing gender or sexual orientation in primary school.

DeSantis’ relatively late candidacy has already given Trump plenty of time to attack him. A pro-Trump organization has already spent more than $14 million on commercials and advertisements to defame DeSantis, for example by giving him the nickname “Ron DeSanctimonious.”

According to Trump, DeSantis owes his fame to Trump, who previously openly supported him in the Florida gubernatorial election. “Instead of being thankful, DeSantis is attacking the very man who saved his career,” Trump said in a video posted after the candidacy.
