Flixtrain runs from Leipzig via Berlin to Aachen

Flixtrain, the Flixbus railroad branch, also plans to head to Leipzig from December. The company said in a press release. To this end, the existing connection between Cologne and Berlin is to be extended. The trains would then run between Aachen and Leipzig up to twice a day. Long-distance trains stop between Leipzig and Berlin in Lutherstadt Wittenberg.

Five years ago, Veolia, which now operates as Transdev, stopped its long-distance train between Leipzig, Berlin and the Baltic Sea. In 2001 this connection was introduced from Gera via Leipzig to the north – first with diesel railcars and later with push-pull trains. Since December 2014, only Deutsche Bahn AG has been running between Leipzig and Berlin by rail.

Together with the Czech partner Leo-Express, Flixtrain currently operates long-distance trains between Hamburg and Cologne, Berlin and Cologne as well as Berlin and Stuttgart via Hannover Messe / Laatzen and Frankfurt am Main. Every day a night train with car transport runs between Hamburg and Lörrach near Freiburg. The Stuttgart – Berlin connection will in future be operated via Erfurt and Halle.
