KOMPAS.com – Flash floods struck City Medan, North Sumatra, on Friday (4/12/2020).
Thousands of houses belonging to residents were reportedly affected. In addition, Basarnas officers found three bodies around the Bokek Beach River.
North Sumatra Governor Edy Rahmyadi emphasized that his party would immediately distribute aid to flood victims.

1. Allegedly washed away, three residents were killed
The Basarnas team managed to evacuate two bodies at the De Flamboyan Housing Complex, Tanjung Selamat Village, Medan Tuntung, Medan, North Sumatra, Friday (4/12/2020).
Basarnas Medan said that initially the officers found the body of a woman who was estimated to be around 30 years old.
When found, the body was wearing a black veil and red long sleeves.

Not long after, near the Bokek Beach River Stream, officers found the body of a man who is thought to be around 20 years old.
When found, the body was wearing a yellow jacket and jeans. The man identified his identity as Heka.
Previously, officers also evacuated the body of a man known as Heka at Griya Nusa III Tanjung Selamat Housing, Medan Tuntung.
2. The water level reaches 3 meters
Meanwhile, Head of the Medan SAR Office, Toto Mulyono, explained that the height of the flood was an obstacle when evacuating the bodies.
According to Toto, the height at the flood site reaches 3-6 meters.
“The team initially received information at 00.20 WIB, that the water level was very high, even on the highway it was 1 meter,” said Toto.

Flash floods in a number of areas in Medan are thought to have been triggered by heavy rains from Thursday night to early Friday.
The heavy rain made the upper part of the Deli River overflow downstream.
According to a resident of Neighborhood IV, Hamdan Village, Medan Maimun District, Herawati, the flood this time was very severe.
“Usually it won’t be this big. This is a shipment from upstream as well,” Herawati said when met on Friday morning.

Reporting from Among, Governor of North Sumatra Edy Rahmayadi invited all elements of society to help victims of natural disasters that occurred in a number of areas in North Sumatra.
This was revealed when Edy and Pangdam I / Bukit Barisan Maj. Gen. Hassanudin provided humanitarian assistance to victims of tornadoes and floods in Serdang Bedagai.
“Let us help and give what can lighten the burden on our brothers who are affected by this disaster, and pray to God Almighty,” he said, Thursday (3/12/2020).
Edy also reminded TNI-Polri personnel to carry out their duties and functions in accordance with their respective duties.
