After all the over-65s, residents of homes and people with a weakened immune system, the rest of the population can also get a third shot (or, in the case of the Janssen vaccine, a second shot). For example, people who cannot or do not want to vaccinate and people for whom the vaccines work less well are also protected.
It is not yet clear when the broad booster campaign will start. That may be decided next week.

The coronavirus is spreading again in Belgium. With winter approaching, authorities fear that not enough people have yet been vaccinated to contain the virus. Not even in Flanders, where many more people have been stung than in Wallonia and Brussels.
For the time being, the Netherlands is sticking to particularly vulnerable people and the oldest elders. The administration of an extra shot to refresh protection against the virus is controversial, because poorer parts of the world have barely started vaccinating and are very short of vaccines.
