“Flamengo and Fluminense Block Vasco From Selling Maracanã Tickets for Palmeiras Match”

Early this Sunday, the justice of the state of Rio de Janeiro granted an injunction that prevents Vasco from selling Maracanã tickets for the confrontation against Palmeiras on April 23. Cruz-Maltino intends to play against Abel Ferreira’s team in a match valid for the Brazilian Championship at Estádio Mario Filho. The injunction was a request from Flamengo and Fluminense and authorized by the judge Ricardo Couto de Castro.

Flamengo and Fluminense presented a report from the company GREENLEAF stating that, in order to keep the Maracanã lawn in good condition until the end of the championship, a rest period of 72 hours between matches would be necessary. However, Vasco’s game against Palmeiras takes place just 24 hours after the confrontation between Fluminense and Athletico-PR, scheduled for Saturday, April 22 at 4 pm. The clubs that have the Maracanã concession also point out that, with the cross-Maltino game taking place, there would be 10 matches to be played on the stadium’s lawn in the month of April.
