Five lists compete this Monday and Tuesday in online elections of the FECh

Between this Monday and Tuesday, the elections of the Federation of Students of the University of Chile (FECh) take place, which for the first time is held online due to the covid-19 pandemic.

In this regard, the current president of the FECh, Emilia schneider told Emol that the platform where the voting takes place was developed by student students from the Department of Computer Science of the Faculty of Engineering.

“It is a system that was concerned with safeguarding that the vote was safe, in the sense that the vote is unique and personal and that it can be audited, that is, that in case of any doubt the situation can be claimed and reviewed,” Schneider told quoted medium.

Schneider called “to participate in this important process because a strengthened federation is what is needed for the political challenges our country is facing.”

It is worth noting that the challenge of these elections revolves around achieving a 40% quorum of participation. If this does not happen, a board of directors will be convened that will have to call new elections and the installation of a student congress.

“In the event that between today and tomorrow the quorum of 40% is not met, a third day of voting is called and then the results would be published. If 40% is reached, they will be published tomorrow,” he explained the president of the FECh.

The lists

In this process, students will be able to choose between five alternatives that make up the lists. The first is “Despierta la FECh”, composed by the Broad Front and headed by the Civil Industrial Engineering student and member of the Comunes party, Consuelo Salas.

List B is called “Unámonos”, made up of students from the Centro Derecha Universitaria and independents. This list is headed by the law student Joaquín Ugarte. List C is “Let’s recover the FECh to win”, from the Vencer movement.

Next is the list E, where the Communist, Humanist and Independent Youth are located, led by the speech therapy student, Valentina Vallejos under the slogan “Rebélate, let’s raise the FECh”.

Finally, there is list F, called “Green Rebellion of Independents to the FECh”, made up of students from the South Campus of the Faculty of Agronomy.

It is important to note that list D, called “Unidad Popular UP” was challenged for a series of offenses committed during the campaign.
