Five Finalists Compete for SVC Geneva Prize

SVC Geneva Prize

Who will succeed Caves de Genève on the Swiss Venture Club prize list? Geneva? Awarded alternately with the SVC Romand prize, this trophy rewards an SME for its exemplary nature. Partner of this distinction, “Le Temps” paints a portrait of the five finalists before knowing the jury’s verdict which will be revealed on November 2 during a ceremony at the Bâtiment des Forces Motrices (BFM).

Since Etienne Guimet laid the first stone of his business cement in 1853, the company has grown considerably to become a Geneva leader in its sector: sanitation. A term not necessarily concrete, which nevertheless covers realities that all owners and tenants have been confronted with one day or another: the repair and maintenance of lifting pumps by hydraulic emptying, the pumping of pits and, of course, repairs for obstructions or flooding of pipes.

Around a hundred employees operate in Geneva and on the Côte Vaudoise, with a fleet of around forty trucks. Established since the beginning of the 20th century in the Pâquis district, the SME has kept the name of its founder even if the current boss, representing the seventh generation, no longer bears the same surname. Sylvain Roch shares with all his ancestors the same passion for an ecological approach to his profession and for bringing it up to date, with strong use of innovative technologies.
