First applicant for mayoral election in Rodgau

The Christian Democrat Max Breitenbach in Rodgau is running for mayoral election. He wants to run as a “non-partisan applicant”.

The mayoral election in Rodgau is not until September 26th, but the first applicant has already thrown his hat into the ring: On Tuesday evening, Max Breitenbach announced that he was running for the post of mayor. The deputy chairman of the CDU city association wants to run as a “non-partisan candidate”. He has been a member of the city council for the CDU for five years.

His motivation for not going into the race as a CDU candidate: He wanted to “implement what is best for the city and its residents across party lines,” he said in the video conference on social media on Tuesday evening. The CDU remains his political home.

Breitenbach wants to succeed Jürgen Hoffmann (SPD), who will no longer have a third term and will leave office on June 9 next year. The 29-year-old, who will turn 30 in the coming week, not only presented himself, but also his goals in the video conference.

Breitenbach works for the city of Wiesbaden. He completed a dual bachelor’s degree in general administration and added the Master of Public Management for three years while working. He has been politically active for ten years, he said.

His election program is entitled with the slogan “Time for something new”. “Dare to do new things together without risking what we all love about Rodgau,” he named as the main goal in his first round of introductions.

Breitenbach also immediately made it clear what he wanted to do differently: “expand the online town hall a lot more”, listen to the citizen more than mayors actively provide information on projects and future developments to the outside world. His tool of choice should be a weekly video blog.
