Fireworks through letterbox, family flees to balcony | Inland

The fire alarm went off at about 3:45 am. The father, mother and two children woke up with a start and wanted to flee the house. But seeing the hallway below full of smoke, they stayed upstairs and fled onto the balcony. Shortly afterwards the fire brigade arrived and entered the house, there was no question of a fire.

It is unknown why fireworks were thrown through the letterbox. The police see “no reason for this” and are investigating.
