During a gay pride in New York, panic broke out among those present on Sunday evening when they thought they heard shots. Hundreds of people then rushed out of Washington Square Park. Police say the explosions were caused by fireworks.

“No shots were fired in Washington Square Park. After an investigation, it was determined that the fireworks were set off at the location,” the New York Police Department said. He also said that no one was seriously injured in the incident.
Photos and videos shared on social media show terrified people running or walking at full speed down a street along the square.
Thousands of people gathered in New York on Sunday to attend the parade. It is the second largest pride parade in the country.
Earlier this weekend, during the celebration of Gay Pride in Norway, a shooting took place at an LGBTQI+ nightclub in Oslo. Two people were killed and 21 others were injured.
