In this context, some municipalities in Poitou prefer to cancel their fireworks. “We can see for a few days the firefighters of Deux-Sèvres and other departments are completely saturated with movements, fire starts everywhere. There is a real risk of fire starting in brushwood, copses, fields , even after cereals that have been cut, it can burn. We must take all the precautions”explains Bernard Paineau, mayor of Thouars and president of the community of communes of Thouarsais.
No fireworks but that doesn’t mean no party. “There are a lot of things on July 14, hikes, a farmers’ market on Mauzé-Thouarsais, on Thouars there is the Fiesta color”list the chosen one.
A Moussacin southern Vienna, the municipality is holding the event this Thursday, July 14 at 11 p.m. without too much concern. “There is no risk, we are doing our fireworks on the edge of Vienna. We have asked to have a motor pump on the ground and we can draw water directly if necessary”, explains Mayor Daniel Bourgoin. “We haven’t done anything for two years, people would like to meet so we keep this day of celebration. It’s important for them,” said the mayor. We have had other years when there has been such dry weather and then there was no problem
Fireworks maintained in Poitiers and Niort
A Niort, the fireworks are still scheduled this Thursday, July 14 at 11 p.m. place de la Brèche. Same day, same time Poitiers but this is happening in five districts of the city. “It is exactly the same fire which is fired at 11 p.m. for a duration of 12 minutes simultaneously from the five sites with the possibility of listening to the soundtrack by flashing a QR code”explains Valérie Bourrée, head of the event and demonstration mission at the city of Poitiers. “As we speak, there is no reason to cancel the Poitiers fireworks display. We put everything in place more than two months ago when we visited the sites shooting with the competent authorities and we have compiled a safety file which is validated by these authorities”.
The prefectures of Vienne and Deux-Sèvres, which have taken measures, in particular concerning the use of fireworks, prohibited for individuals. And certain conditions must be respected for professionals. For example, no fireworks in the event of strong winds (over 54 km/h) or storms.
