Israel to Facilitate US-Palestinian Entry Under US Visa Waiver Program

Shin Bet homeland security service agreed to terms of deal with the United States

As part of the moves to secure a visa waiver agreement with the United States, Israel has agreed to allow Americans who also hold Palestinian nationality to enter its territory freely through Ben-Gurion International Airport, confirmed. a senior Israeli official at The Times of Israel.

Israel has been pushing for years to enter the US visa waiver program, and has made significant progress in recent months.

Home Secretary Ayalet Shaked said last month that a US committee was due to travel to the Hebrew state in January to meet with Israeli officials, “with the aim of securing a visa waiver by end of the year 2022. “

The entry of American-Palestinians into Israel was seen as a major sticking point in the negotiations.

But public broadcaster Kan reported on Sunday that the Shin Bet Homeland Security Service has accepted the terms of the deal with the United States.

In October, the US Secretary of Homeland Security announced that the United States was considering adding four countries, including Israel, to its visa waiver program.

Citizens of these countries will be able to travel to the United States visa-free for a stay of up to 90 days.

To participate in the program, a country must meet requirements related to counterterrorism, immigration law enforcement, security and border management.
