A cell fire broke out in the Mittersteig prison in Vienna-Margareten on Sunday evening. 80 men were deployed.
A cell fire in the Mittersteig prison in Vienna-Margareten went relatively smoothly on Sunday evening. According to fire department spokesman Gerald Schimpf, three officers suffered smoke poisoning when they brought prisoners from the affected area to safety.

Cell fire in Mittersteig: 80 men on duty
The fire brigade had been alerted around 6:30 p.m. and had 16 vehicles and 80 men at alarm level 2. The catastrophe train of the Vienna Occupational Rescue also came up. When they arrived, the judicial guards had already brought the inmates to safety. “You acted exemplary,” praised Schimpf. The prisoners were all unharmed.
