Fire in Moulins-lès-Metz Apartment: Residents Safely Evacuated, No Injuries Reported

The alert was given around 8:15 a.m. this Friday, August 11, at 3 rue de Nancy in Moulins-lès-Metz. A fire broke out in an apartment on the fourth and last floor of a collective. It was the staff of the town hall, located nearby, who called the fire department. The municipal police went to the scene but the residents had already evacuated. That is seven people in total, including the inhabitants of the affected accommodation: a 28-year-old woman and her 3-year-old little boy.

No one was injured or poisoned by the fumes. In the presence of Mayor Jean Bauchez, the 18 firefighters mobilized fought the flames for half an hour. But it was necessary to clear and carry out a reconnaissance of the building, and in particular of its roof, to avoid any rebirth of the fire. All residents will be able to return to their homes, with the exception of the occupants of the burnt and seriously damaged apartment. “We are going to find an emergency solution for them, in particular so that they can have clothes,” said Jean Bauchez.

The operation is over. The national police can make the findings. The cause of the fire remains unknown. But the accidental track seems envisaged. The fire would have started from the kitchen or the living room.
