Continuous evacuation messages – Tens of thousands of acres have burned – Fire fronts continue their destructive course
The fire fronts in the southern part of Evros continue their destructive course. The Fire Brigade, units of the Armed Forces, the staff of the local Municipalities and the Region, as well as volunteers, are trying to deal with the flames that have caused enormous damage to the environment, the settlements and the livestock units and agricultural lands of the region.
Over 90,000 acres they have burned on the eastern outskirts of Alexandroupolis until last night, according to the same source.
Only in the area of the Dadia National Park, Soufli and Lefkimmi had burned until yesterday over 32,000 acres and the flames continue to burn virgin areas of the Natura2000 protected area.
Continuous messages for evacuations
Three different messages through 112 were sent in the early morning in less than an hour, in order to evacuate Plaka, Dikella, Makri, Nea Chili, Elaionas, Elato, Pefki and Agios Georgios.

The risk is still very high today
Evros Vice-region recommends for Tuesday also special attention and avoidance of any action that could cause a fire through negligence. The map issued by Civil Protection puts all of Thrace in category 4 for very high risk.
It is noted that the weather conditions are not helping to deal with the fireswith an extreme risk of fire in six areas, including Attica

It is noted that by decision of the deputy governor P.E. Evros, Dimitris Petrovich, the passage, stay and movement of persons and vehicles is prohibited in the areas of responsibility of the forest authorities of Alexandroupoli, Samothraki, Soufli and Didymoteicho from 7.30 am today until 7.30 am on Wednesday in the areas: Reforestation of Kirkis-Sykorrachis, recreation area Sykorrachis, in the reforestation and recreation area of Loutro, in the peri-urban forests of Nipsa and ‘Avanda, in the recreation area of ’Avanda-Aisymi, in the reforestation and recreation area of Mesimvria. In the Komaru-Atarni reforestation, in the Derveni-Sliva (old Nipsa) forest area, in the Leptokaryas recreation areas, in the Kallithea recreation area, in the Iana forest and recreation area, in the peri-urban forest of Palagia, in the Aetochori-Pefkon-Loutrou forest area. In the Makris camp and reforestation, in the plane tree of Maistro, in the peri-urban forests of Pylaia, Melia and Feron, in the grove of the French O.S.E. station, in the Kavisos Wildlife Refuge. The ban also applies to the peri-urban forest of Chora Samothraki, the forest stop of Alevantza, in the area of the Dadia-Lefkimi-Soufli complex (Provatonas-Lefkimi-Dadia-Giannouli-Kotronia), in the forest area of Lefkimi-Vyrinis-Kitrinopetras, in the “Katratzides” recreation areas ” and “Treis Vryses”, in the reforestation and the “Tsingla” recreation area and the “Hilia” recreation area.
The announcement clarifies that persons who live or work in the areas of article 129 as well as persons who move within the road network are excluded. An administrative fine of three hundred euros is imposed for each violation of the ban.
