At 8:30 pm, the Western Police District reports that there is a fire in a barn in Gåsemyr in Byrkjelo. About 200 animals were reported in the stable.
– It was reported at 20.27 that there was a complete fire in a large barn of well over 2000 square meters, and that there were over 200 animals inside. The farmer and others in the area are working to save the animals, says operations manager Eivind Hellesund in the Firda Western Police District.
Firefighters arrived and started putting out the fire, and it has been reported that there is a risk that the fire could spread to a nearby building. There are six fire engines, including a crew car and a tanker.
The Wildlife Board has been called in for help and work is also being done to contact a veterinarian.

At 9:04 pm, the Western Police District reports on Twitter that E39 is now closed in Gåsmyr because emergency vehicles are in the way. They also write that there is a complete fire in the farm building and that there is a risk of spreading to other buildings on the farm.
– The building is set on fire. We have challenges with the weather and the wind. We are in the process of demarcating the fire from spreading to the buildings adjacent to the barn, says Sharhrooz Lahooti, in the Firda Alarm Center, at 9:21 pm.
At 9:25 pm, the West Police District reports on Twitter that about 30 animals have come out. The animals are in the ground around the barn. The number has not been confirmed. A large number of people are thought to have lost their lives in the fire.
