During the first 1,500 kilometers, Thomas Kataynen’s Tesla worked perfectly. However, then there was a water leak and a number of errors in the system, which led the Finn to call a truck to take the car and take it to a licensed service.
After about a month, however, he was told that there was nothing they could do and that it would be best to replace the battery of the car that had caused the defect. That would cost him 20,000 euros, or $ 24,000.
Instead of repairing his car, which would cost him about 50% of the purchase price, Kataynen decided to do something different.
He contacted one of his favorite YouTubers and offered to blow up the car.
After removing the lithium-ion battery, engine and other expensive parts, the car was taken to an old quarry in the nearby village of Jaala, 2 hours from Helsinki.
The team placed 30 kg of explosives on the car and shot video from different points of view. The explosion can be seen at a slow pace, and the video itself has already been watched by nearly 5 million people.
It is interesting to note that in the driver’s seat of the car at that time was a mannequin with the face of Elon Musk.
The standard warranty on a Tesla Model S car is 250,000 km and 8 years, but it only applies if the battery is not opened by people who are not authorized by Tesla.
