Finishing 12th at the Sepang MotoGP Test, Marquez: Honda is still far behind

Sepang

Preseason test MotoGP 2023 in Sepang have completed the first day. Honda riders Marc Marquez admitted, his mount was still far behind from its rivals.

The MotoGP pre-season test at Sepang on the first day was held on Friday (10/2/2023). As a result, racer Mooney Marco Bezzecchi topped the list with the best time of 1 minute 58.47 seconds.

Marquez himself finished the session in 12th position with a difference of 0.952 seconds from Bezzecchi. The eight-time world champion’s best record came in the 23rd round out of a total of 58 rounds.

Meanwhile, Ducati appeared to dominate by placing its seven riders in the top 10 fastest racers. Aprilia racer Maverick Vinales thwarted a clean sweep by Ducati in the top five after finishing second behind Bezzecchi.

The MotoGP pre-season test at Sepang will continue on Saturday (11/2). Marc Marquez showed dissatisfaction with the performance of his motorbike because there were no significant changes from the post-season test in Valencia last November.

“The feeling now is more or less the same as Valencia, because the bike is more or less the same,” said the Spaniard Autosport. “Now, tomorrow and the following days we will start working and especially in Partimao something new will come.”

“However, we need to continue working in our garage, trying to get more information, improving little by little because at the moment we are still far from the leading riders.”

“Of course you want more and you always want more speed. However, they have told me that we will take it step by step.” Marc Marquez add.
