With the Pedelec, an electric motor supports up to 25 km / h when pedaling. From a legal point of view, a two-wheeler, also known colloquially as an e-bike, then counts as a normal bicycle. But if you make it faster or stronger, you convert it to a motor vehicle, warns the two-wheeler industry association (ZIV). It then lost its status as a bicycle – with nasty consequences.
Because anyone who drives such an illegally hairdressed electric bike on the road risks, among other things, fines, penalties, loss of driving license and usually gets partial guilt in the event of an accident.
