1/22
The DHB team only reached 12th place at the World Cup in Egypt. Who disappointed? Who can national coach Alfred Gislason be satisfied with? SPOX issues the diploma.
2/22
TOR – Andreas Wolff: Was very weak in the decisive games against Hungary (13 percent) and Spain (22 percent) and did not even begin to live up to expectations. After all, a conciliatory deal against Poland (38 percent). Grade: 5
3/22
Johannes Bitter: Didn’t tear any trees completely, but played a decent World Cup with a total of 33 parades and 36 percent of balls blocked. The number 2 in the DHB box was ultimately the clear number 1. Note: 2.5.
4/22
Silvio Heinevetter: Only played one half against handball dwarf Uruguay (11 parades and 52 percent) and played very briefly against Brazil and Poland. No rating
5/22
OUTSIDE LEFT – Uwe Gensheimer: Scored a total of 14 goals, but missed far too many clear chances, as his overall rate of 65 percent proves. Bitter: His failure against Spain after a counter-attack was a sticking point for the bankruptcy. Grade: 5
6/22
Marcel Schiller: Apart from the Poland game, he showed a strong performance. Schiller scored 21 goals and sank 12 of his 15 seven meters. In the game against Hungary with seven hits in seven attempts very strong. Grade: 2
7/22
BACK SPACE LEFT – Fabian Böhm: Sometimes had good moments in the middle block and convinced in this role against Spain. Offensive, however, extremely harmless with four goals and a hit rate of 44 percent. Grade: 4
8/22
Julius Kühn: Unfortunately, he is not able to create closing situations himself. Scored 13 goals with a hit rate of just 50 percent. Neat against Hungary, no factor against Spain. Grade: 4.5
9/22
Paul Drux: Mostly convincing in the back room when he was standing on the plate with Weber and Häfner. Drux scored 9 goals (60 percent) and provided 7 assists. Also an important factor in coverage. Grade: 2.5
10/22
Lukas Stutzke: Was not in any of the five games in the 16-man squad. No rating
11/22
RÜCKRAUM MITTE – Philipp Weber: Good individual actions, good allusions, good thinkers and leaders – Weber has played his best tournament so far for the DHB team. Scored 17 goals (65 percent) and booked 10 assists. Grade: 2
12/22
Marian Michalczik: Sank his two litters at the World Cup, but was only used very sporadically and was sometimes not even in the 16-man squad. No rating
13/22
Juri Knorr: Good World Cup debut against Uruguay, against Spain with light and shadow. Knorr showed good approaches overall, but still paid apprenticeship in some places. Scored a total of 5 goals (83 percent). Grade: 3.5.
14/22
BACK SPACE ON THE RIGHT – Kai Häfner: At the end against Poland physically at the end, otherwise well and brave on the way. He scored 14 goals and was the most successful German player in this category with 15 assists. Grade: 2.5
15/22
David Schmidt: Because Häfner was completely exhausted, Schmidt had to play against Poland and did his job properly. Overall, however, with the best line-up, probably more of a shaky candidate (9 goals, 69 percent). Grade: 4
16/22
Antonio Metzner: Was in the squad against Hungary, but was not used. He was allowed to play a good six minutes against Brazil. No rating
17/22
RIGHT EXTERIOR – Tobias Reichmann: Injured his knee in the opening game against Uruguay (3 goals, 75 percent) and was then replaced by Patrick Groetzki. Reichmann has since been operated on in Germany. No rating
18/22
Timo Kastening: With 20 goals the best German thrower. Especially convincing with seven stalls against Spain. His rate of 67 percent is not particularly good for an outside player. Note 3
19/22
Patrick Groetzki: Was nominated for the injured Reichmann and sank his only World Cup throw against Hungary shortly before the end to equalize – which unfortunately wasn’t enough to draw. Otherwise hardly got any game shares. No rating
20/22
KREIS – Johannes Golla: Logically didn’t quite come close to the level of Pekeler and Wiencek in the middle block, but overall he did a really good job. Scored a total of 16 goals (80 percent) and shone against Brazil. Grade: 2.5
21/22
Sebastian Firnhaber: “Flamme” gave everything, but always seemed overwhelmed at the highest level in cover. He cannot stop the strong circular runners, and he also received too many time penalties. Grade: 4.5
22/22
Moritz Preuss: Only stood against Spain in the 16-man squad and then on the field for two minutes. No rating
