Stripes are now shown daily at Dresden Airport: finally there is a drive-in cinema!

Dresden – Engine off, film off: This Friday, Dresden’s first drive-in cinema starts in the airport car park. Organizer Toni Heide (37) from Dresden wants a bright spot in the heavy Corona time put.

The construction work was in full swing until Thursday evening. According to the organizer, the city’s permits had been obtained: “We can start as planned.” A spokesman for the town hall announced that the building inspectorate still had to take over the stage construction of the screen on site.

The exact number of Cinema seats is still open. Heide hopes that there will be space for up to 320 cars in the parking lot (P4) south of the runway.

Until the beginning of June supposed to be a movie every day be shown several on weekends. “Go Trabi, Go” (7 p.m.) and “Pretty Best Friends” (10 p.m.) are scheduled to run this Friday.

The blockbusters are transferred to four LED screens (9×5 meters). The sound is played on the car radio. While other cinemas are not allowed to open due to the corona restrictions, hygiene in the drive-in cinema is unproblematic.

“We make the drive-in cinema in order to be able to give people a nice experience in this time of social distance and to give back a bit of normalcy,” says Toni Heide. He also plans to open more drive-in cinemas with his team in Bautzen and Görlitz soon. Tickets cost 19.90 euros per car HERE available.

Incidentally, the organizers of the film nights on the banks of the Elbe also want to open a drive-in cinema in the exhibition car park in Ostragehege (TAG24 reported). However, approvals are still pending. Spokeswoman Viktoria Franke (33): “We hope to start next or the week after next.”
