Donya lives alone in Fremont, California, in a building with other Afghan immigrants. She can hardly sleep, often eats alone at a local restaurant and regularly watches soaps. Her routine away from home changes when she is promoted to fortune angel at her job at a fortune cookie factory.
As her wisdom is read by complete strangers across the Bay Area, Donya’s simmering longing drives her to send her own message out into the world, without knowing where it will lead.
