It was another wonderful film year. Despite Martin Scorsese seems to say otherwise, there was enough space for a variety of smaller films in addition to the large superhero films, and Netflix also managed to counterbalance a number of wonderful titles. The film critics in the Netherlands chose their toppers from 2019.
The Circle of Dutch Film Journalists (KNF) appears to have certainly had an eye for this deviating comic film this year. The DC film is in its top three for this year Joker noted. However, this film is not in the lead. It is the South Korean drama and the Golden Palm winner Parasite from Bong Joon Ho (Snowpiercer, okay) which was designated as the best film. The top five:

3. Sorry We Missed You – Ken Loach
4. Portrait de la jeune fille en feu – Céline Sciamma
5. The Favorite – Giorgos Lanthimos
Best Dutch films
The Dutch film journalists also voted to get a picture of the best Dutch films of 2019. This year there weren’t any really huge eye-catching Dutch blockbusters. The otherwise excellent pursuit thriller Bumper stick from Lodewijk Crijns (Cancer sufferers, Only neat people) ended up in the first place of the top three below:
