Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane does not want to stay for many years in the coach’s career as was Sir Alex Ferguson, Giovanni Trapattoni, Fabio Capello and others.
“I will not train for 20 years, I will retire before that. Everything is possible,” the Frenchman said at a news conference in preparation for his hosts Espanyol on Sunday in the 32nd round of the Spanish League.
He praised his captain Sergio Ramos, who scored a free kick against Real Mallorca in the last round, “We saw that he might reach what he wants, because he has the ability and above all the personality. He always wanted to win and write a history for this club.”
“I am not surprised by what Ramos is doing. We are lucky to be in Madrid and I hope he will continue until the end of his career,” he added.
“I have nothing to say about the club’s decision, I feel sorry for him. These are difficult moments,” said Zidane, 48, commenting on the dismissal of Abelardo Fernandez from Espanyol’s training.
Real Madrid leads the Spanish league standings thanks to the two direct encounters against its arch-rivals Barcelona.
The latter plays against its host Celta Vigo on Saturday, and after 24 hours, Real Madrid will visit Barcelona to face Espanyol, the bottom club.
Real Madrid have been seeking a fifth straight win in the league since the tournament resumed.
