Vincenzo Spadafora, Italy’s sports minister, proposed next May a date for the resumption of local league activity, after being halted due to an outbreak of Corona virus.
The Italian league has been postponed indefinitely after playing a single round without a public presence due to the spread of the virus that led to the imposition of curfews in the country.
“I think the league may return on May 3, and then we will analyze the situation if it is held in the presence of a public or behind closed doors,” the Italian sports minister said in comments on official television.
“The same will apply to continental competitions in the Champions League and European League.”
Spadafora revealed that clubs are exempt from paying taxes until May 30 due to the current economic crisis.
He said: “For all sports federations and clubs, there is a tax exemption until May 30th.”
He continued, “All rental stadiums whose rental payments have been suspended will also pay small sports facilities only 600 euros, which some of the facilities rented from us.”
