Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhi said that each sports federation will decide the date for the return of its activities separately, while keeping the health of the Egyptian citizen a priority, as President of the Republic Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly emphasized.
Subhi spoke to “On Sport FM” radio, saying: “Sports activity is like the rest of activities in Egypt, and the issue of return will be for each sport separately, because every game has its own special circumstances, and as was the instructions of the President and the Egyptian government that the health of the citizen first, and interest in the matter And the Egyptian citizen in the first place, and what applies to all sectors in Egypt applies to sports. “
He added, “Egypt has made a great performance in dealing with the Corona virus, and the whole world is stalled and will return from the same point, and the date for the resumption of activity is linked to the general state of Egypt regarding Corona.”
Sobhi continued: “There are 24 athletes present in the United States, most of whom are swimming and coordination was made today, with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Aviation, as well as the Egyptian embassy in Washington, in addition to Yasser Idris, president of the Swimming Federation, and two planes will be sent to return them on Monday and Wednesday next.”
On the players’ preparations file for the Olympics that was postponed to the coming summer, Subhi said, “I contacted today with Hassan Mustafa, President of the International Handball Federation, and Hisham Hatab, President of the Olympic Committee, where the date for the Olympics was set for next year 2021 in the period from July 23 to August 8, and this means that we will start Study with the Olympic Committee and Federations to make new plans to prepare for participation in this event, we have 93 qualified so far, and there are other games awaiting the final qualifiers, and contact with the Olympic Committee and international federations to know the date of the establishment of these qualifiers, and continue to equip the players. “
The sports minister added, “The players who are currently qualified for the Olympics are in a period of negative stopping or rest because sport is frozen in the whole world and according to the precautionary measures, I assure all of our children that Egypt is behind you and our goal is to protect you from any dangers, especially with regard to the Corona virus.”
With regard to the Football Association elections, Ashraf Sobhi confirmed that he is communicating with Amr Al-Janaini, the head of the Five-Year Committee of the Football Association on an ongoing basis, and the elections are one of the important items that the committee has come to.
Sobhi completed the Cairo Stadium stadium maintenance file: “Suffice it to suspend the matches of the month of March for the teams, and next May there will be African club tournaments.
