Wadih Al-Jaree, head of the Tunisian Football Federation, has set the dates for the Tunisian League players’ return to training, the resumption of the tournament and the launch of the new league.
The Tunisian newspaper Al-Shorouk quoted the bold statements in which he said that May 24 is the date for the players’ return to training, as agreed with the Tunisian authorities.
He added that the league championship will resume its activities in the first week of August, and that it ends in the last week of next September.
The beginning of the next season will be on October 24.
Regarding the Tunisian Super Cup between Esperance and Club Sfaxien, which was postponed due to the Corona virus pandemic, the bold said that this match will take place before September 30th as a priority, even if it is at the expense of the Tunisian Cup final this season, which can be carried over to the next season if necessary, he said. .
The Tunisian Football Federation has submitted proposals to restore the tournament with some conditions for not spreading the Corona virus, including playing without fans, and holding the remainder of the league matches in the Tunisian capital only.
The Tunisian Federation also stipulated that teams be subjected to sanitary isolation in the capital’s hotels until the end of the competition matches.
The proposal of the Tunisian National University, was rejected by three clubs. The young Hilal team rejects the principle of resuming the competition from the ground up, while the Sfaxien and Najm El Mellouli teams reject the idea of running all the matches in Tunis.
The Tunisian League championship has reached round 16, and 10 rounds remain until the end of the 14-team league.
Esperance Sport tops the competition with 44 points, 10 points behind second-placed Sfaxien.
On the other hand, the young Hilal team – which refuses to resume the competition – occupies the ninth place with 18 points, while the Najm Al-Mettwali team, which refuses to collect matches in the capital, is the 14th and last with 10 points.
