Liverpool announced, in an official statement, the success of the surgery that Joe Gomez underwent in his left knee, after an injury he suffered during England training on Wednesday.
The text of the statement said: “The player underwent successful surgery on his left knee, after an injury sustained in England training.”
“The problem was that a tendon in his left knee was cut, and no other ligaments in his knee were damaged,” he said.
“The player will begin his qualifying program with the medical team quickly, and the club is following the situation very carefully,” he added.
“There is no time frame for the player’s return, but the problem will keep him away for a long period of the current season,” he said.
England coach Gareth Southgate announced earlier on Wednesday that Gomez had injured his knee without interference from any player during England training.
Currently, Virgil van Dyck, Gomez and Fabinho are absent from Liverpool, due to injury.
