Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman began preparing early for his plan to return the Catalans to the podiums after a season devoid of any achievements.
The Dutchman, Koeman, is close to coaching Barcelona, and the official announcement of his appointment as director of the team will be within the next few hours.
Barcelona announced the dismissal of Quique Setien from coaching the team after the disaster of losing Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals by eight goals.
The newspaper “El Periodico de Catalunya”, which is published daily in the Catalonia region, stated that Koeman does not want a number of players in the Barcelona team and will try to get rid of them as soon as he takes over the task of training the team officially.
Midfielder Sergio Busquets is at the top of the list of players threatened to leave Barcelona in the presence of Coman.
The newspaper added that Jordi Alba, Luis Suarez, Arturo Vidal, Ivan Rakitic and Samuel Umtiti were among the names threatened to leave Barcelona with Koman.
And not only because of their advanced age or the recent decline in the level of some of them, but Barcelona wants to reduce the team’s salaries by getting rid of a number of these players.
Therefore, Koeman will try to sell a number of these players, also to go down the average age of the team and include young players.
