The Qatari club Al-Duhail announced the inclusion of Kenyan Michael Olonga from Kashiwa Reysol, Japan, in the winter transfer market.

Al-Duhail club stated that Olonga had signed a contract that would keep him in the Qatari club for a period of 3 years.

The official announcement for Al-Duhail comes 4 full days after Olonga’s debut with the team against Al-Sadd last Tuesday.

Olonga was a key player in the match and was knocked out in the second half by losing his new team by three goals to one against Xavi Hernandez’s battalion.

Al Duhail is supporting its ranks in preparation for the Club World Cup in Qatar next February.

Al-Duhail had joined Iranian midfielder Ali Karimi from Qatar in the January transfers.

Olonga, 26, is a Kenyan striker, whose height is 193 cm, and he has achieved great successes in the Japanese League.

Olonga played 78 games with Kashiwa Reysol, during which he scored 61 goals and 15 assists, and led him to climb to the Premier League in 2019, before winning the Premier League’s top scorer award in 2020 as well as the best player award in the tournament.

Olonga has previously moved between several clubs on different continents, most notably Tusker and Gore Mahia in his country, Kenya, and Girona, Spain.

Olonga has 40 international matches with Kenya, during which he scored 18 goals, including a double against Tanzania in the 2019 African Cup of Nations in Egypt.

Olonga is nicknamed “the engineer” for studying geospatial engineering at the undergraduate level.
