FIFA becomes EA Sports FC

Hardwareluxx already reported in October that EA would bury the FIFA series. It’s official now, and FIFA 23, due out this year, will be the last official title in the franchise. In the future, the series will be called EA Sports FC. However, the lack of FIFA in the title should not affect the licenses. EA speaks of around 300 partners, including around 19,000 players and 700 teams. In addition, you could secure the rights to 100 stadiums and 30 leagues. Thus, only the name of the game seems to change. Everything else stays the same.

For German football fans, the news that the first and second Bundesliga will also be represented at EA Sports FC should be particularly good news. But international competitions such as the Champions League and Europa League are also represented at the first EA Sports FC.

More details and information should be available in summer 2022 when FIFA 2023 is released. EA also wants to end the series properly and promised, among other things, more game modes as well as features, teams and leagues, or competitions. From all appearances, EA wants to say goodbye to the FIFA franchise with a bang. It remains to be seen whether this will actually succeed and whether the transition to EA Sports FC will go smoothly.

If you don’t want to give up football for the summer due to the upcoming end of the Bundesliga season at the weekend, you can pass the time with FIFA 22. An allusion with all information about the current part can be found here. Here, 700 teams with 17,000 different players meet in 100 stadiums. Thus, FIFA 22 and the upcoming EA Sports FC differ only marginally, at least in terms of numbers.

It is not known whether there will be a reunion with the 16 missing national teams in the coming year.
