Kherson – Military Ukraine on Saturday (30/7/2022) claimed to have killed more than 100 soldiers Russia in fierce fighting in the Kherson region.

The Kiev military also admitted destroying two ammunition dumps in the region, the focus of a counter-offensive for Kiev and cutting off a major supply line for Moscow troops.

Ukraine’s southern military command said rail traffic to Kherson over the Dnipro River had been cut. This tactic has the potential to further isolate Russian troops west of the river from supplies in Crimea.

Ukraine has used Western-supplied long-range missile systems to damage three bridges on the Dnipro in recent weeks, bypassing the city of Kherson and, in the assessment of British defense officials, leaving Russia’s 49th Army stationed on the west bank of the river particularly vulnerable.

“Due to the fire over the main transport network in the occupied territories, it has been determined that traffic over the rail bridge crossing the Dnipro is impossible,” the southern command of Ukraine said in a statement, as quoted by Reuters. Reuters.

In addition to killing more than 100 Russian soldiers, the Ukrainian military also claims to have destroyed seven tanks in fighting on Friday in the Kherson region.

Kherson was the first major city to be captured by Russia after the February 24 invasion.

The first deputy head of the Kherson regional council, Yuri Sobolevsky, told residents to stay away from Russian ammunition dumps.

“Ukrainian soldiers continue to attack Russia and this is just the beginning,” Sobolevsky wrote on the Telegram app.
