Fiat 500 electric “Trepiuno”: one more door is on the way

It seems that the 500 electric family is destined to expand with a new model. The indiscretion comes from Automotive News Europe which anticipates that this new variant it should be called “Trepiuno”. According to the source, it would be characterized by have a second door on the passenger side. The aim would be to facilitate access to the rear seats.

It seems that the opening of the new door may be against the wind and that the addition will result in a weight increase of 30 kg for the car. There should, therefore, be no particular differences as regards autonomy. For the moment, everything is silent on the Fiat front but according to the source the presentation of this particular model could take place as early as October. Marketing, on the other hand, would begin in 2021.

It is not the first time that the name “Trepiuno” has been used by Fiat. In 2004, in fact, the brand presented the Trepiuno concept car at the Geneva Motor Show, which anticipated the design of its new small city car. In that case, however, the name it was a reference to the interior which offered two comfortable seats in the front row, a rear seat that gained space as the front passenger seat moved forward plus a fourth emergency seat behind the driver.

Now all that remains is to wait for official information from Fiat. Finally, please note that the electric Fiat 500 is currently available in the Sedan and Cabrio versions.
