Feyenoord showed Ajax all corners of De Kuip. In an unprecedentedly one-sided Classic, the score was no less than 6-0 in the 29th round of the Premier League.
Feyenoord thus achieved its biggest victory ever over its great rival. The 9-4 of November 29, 1964 can be removed from the books after today. Earlier this season, the Rotterdam team won the Classic in the Johan Cruijff Arena with 0-4.
Moreover, it equaled the biggest defeat in Ajax’s club history. In 1949 (6-0 against ADO) and 1950 (0-6 against Limburgia) they lost with the same figures. That was before the establishment of the Premier League.

At halftime it was already 3-0 this afternoon thanks to goals from Igor Paixão, star Yankuba Minteh and Dávid Hancko. In the second half, Minteh, Quinten Timber and Paixão further increased the score.
Thanks to the simple victory, Feyenoord is firmly in second place and can gradually look towards the cup final, against NEC in two weeks. The team from Nijmegen took over fifth place from Ajax, which still has to work hard in the remaining five competition matches to qualify directly for European football. To achieve this, the Amsterdam team must finish fourth or fifth and then hope that Feyenoord wins the cup.
Attack waves
Ajax presented itself in De Kuip as a relegation candidate. After the team had struggled to survive Feyenoord’s opening offensive (good chances for Santiago Gimenez and Minteh), they started wasting time early on.
As a result, Feyenoord’s attack waves temporarily stopped. But after half an hour the Rotterdammers launched a second offensive, this time with success.
Feyenoord breaks the ban
First, after a bad kick from Geronimo Rulli (the replacement for the injured Diant Ramaj kept his second game of the season), Gimenez shot an imposed chance at the Argentinian keeper. During Feyenoord’s 6-0, several Ajax defenders were defeated in the penalty area. After one Ajax player after another had fallen to the ground, Paixão shot the ball home.

There was still enough time, but the seventh goal was not scored. This was also because referee Danny Makkelie did not give a penalty after a handball from Hato and because Feyenoord striker Gimenez failed to punish Rulli’s fumbling. Substitute Alireza Jahanbakhsh hit the target, but his goal was disallowed due to annoying offside by another substitute: Ayase Ueda.
Only after 82 minutes did Ajax score its first and only goal attempt. Substitute Julian Rijkhoff was sent off, but his effort was saved by Timon Wellenreuther. The German thus became the first Feyenoord goalkeeper since Ed de Goey in 1991 to keep a clean sheet in a Classic in De Kuip in the Premier League.
