Scuderia Ferrari organized an event to bid farewell to Sebastian Vettel, who will retire from F1 at the end of this season ahead of qualifying for the Abu Dhabi F1 GP.
Sebastian Vettel moved to Ferrari in 2015 after winning four consecutive titles. He was expected to reclaim the title from Maranello, but he was unable to do so in five seasons and was released ahead of the 2020 season in the form of out-of-force notice.
However, with 13 victories for Ferrari, Sebastian Vettel is Ferrari’s third most successful driver behind Michael Schumacher and Niki Lauda.
Before qualifying for the F1 Abu Dhabi GP, Charles Leclerc, Carlos Sainz, Antonio Giovinazzi and team representative Mattia Binotto, mechanics, engineers and team members gathered, Ferrari’s F1 2018 car “SF71H” has presented an engine cover. Sebastian Vettel won five races in this car, but it was also a car that fell into a slump after retiring after a solo crash at Hockenheim.
In an interview ahead of the F1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend, Sebastian Vettel was asked what Ferrari needed to improve.
“I have a few ideas about what’s different about that team, but I’ll keep them to myself,” Vettel said.
“What you see from the outside is just an interpretation of what’s actually going on. We don’t have the whole story.”
Sebastian Vettel then says Mattia Binotto’s criticism of the team is unfair.
“There’s a whole country behind the team and we pay a lot of attention to that, which you don’t see anywhere else. Maybe the attention creates too much pressure.”
