ISTANBUL – Fenerbahce Istanbul football players won in the final appearance in the H-group of the European Conference League over Spartak Trnava 4:0 and ensured their progress to the round of 16.
They finished first in the table thanks to a better overall score than Ludogorca Razgrad with the same 12 points. The Bulgarian team defeated FC Nordsjaelland 1:0 and will appear in the playoff for the round of 16.
Spartak already knew before the meeting in Istanbul that they would finish in the last fourth place. In six matches in the group stage, to which they advanced from the second preliminary round, the reigning winner of the Slovak Cup earned a single point for a 1:1 draw in Nordsjaelland.

Michal Gašparík’s men will complete the autumn derniere on Sunday against Michalovci in the 18th round of the highest domestic competition.

In addition to the announced marauders of Štetin, Štefánik, Daniel and Bainović, Spartak also lost the sick captain Mikovič. The coaches did not even have Gorosita available for administrative reasons. The weakened visitors sent the first shot at the goal, its author was Bernát, but it was a “raspberry” for Egribayat. After that, it was played according to the notes of the favorite.
In the 12th minute, Džeko cleverly reached the penalty area on the right side, but missed the goal with a cross shot. In the 23rd minute, Takáč intervened against the gunner from Bosnia and Herzegovina, who pushed his attempt into the corner. Moments later, Djurič “fluffed” the ball, which passed to Džeko, but the home striker failed to finish again.
Fenerbahce converted the advantage of the game into a goal in the 36th minute, ending the individual breakthrough with a shot to Kadioglu’s near post – 1:0. At the end of the first half, Takáč deflected Kahveci’s shot only in front of Szymanský, whose header lob ended just above the goal.

In the opening seconds of the second half, Djurič pulled Džeko for the shirt in the penalty area, and Tadič converted the appointed eleven with the help of the left post and goalkeeper Takač’s run – 2:0. Bukata tried for a contact goal, but his cross was badly deflected. In the 58th minute, Fred “charged” Kadioglu in front of the penalty area, and his shot missed by only decimeters.
Just a moment later, Spartak’s frantic defense left too much space for Džeko, who did not disdain the opportunities offered, and after his two goals in a short span, the home team was already leading 4:0. The decided match was broken up by substitutions and although the home team still had some chances, they did not add the fifth goal.

Michal Gašparík, coach of Spartak: “The coach should be sad after such a match, but I absolutely don’t feel that way. We fought for participation in the group stage, it was already a bonus for us. We knew that we got three quality teams in the group. Today the result is not good for us , the guys did what they could, but the difference in quality was so striking that it finally showed in the result.
We didn’t want to go into the match today with a defensive tactic or formation, we wanted to play against a difficult opponent, but they were able to access us well, we didn’t have quality on the ball and Fenerbahce created a lot of break situations, it was repeated even after the change of sides, when Fenerbahce created most scoring situations after the transition phase and breaks.
We take this group and this match in general as experience, for the younger ones it may also be a lesson. It’s hard to blame anything, especially the younger ones, when Džeko scores goals for you, who has a bigger salary than us, the budget of the whole club. That quality has to show up somewhere. It was a football school for our youngsters.”
