FEMA Update on COVID-19 Vaccinations

WASHINGTON – Two community vaccination centers with the capacity to administer up to 6,000 vaccines each day began operations this past Wednesday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta and Ford Field in Detroit (Video in english).

Acting Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Administrator Bob Fenton visited the center in Atlanta this week.

“Our main focus here [en el Mercedes-Benz Stadium] it’s fairness in vaccination and ensuring that in the coming weeks all local residents who want to get vaccinated can do so, ”Fenton said. “With vaccination centers like this is how we will achieve this goal.”

Community immunization centers are run by the states, but may be supported by federal agencies, including FEMA. Each state determines its vaccination procedures and priority groups.

FEMA remains committed to the equitable distribution of vaccines. Using data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Social Vulnerability Index and Census population data, the agency works with state partners to identify locations for community vaccination centers. where it will be possible for them to do the most good for the most vulnerable populations and thus ensure that all people who want to be vaccinated can do so.

To date, FEMA has allocated more than $ 4.42 billion to cover 100 percent of expenses related to COVID-19 vaccination. These funds meet essential supplies, staff, training, and transportation needs that help increase immunization efforts.

On Wednesday, FEMA released interim policy guidelines on the COVID-19 Funeral Assistance program. This program will provide reimbursements to individuals for expenses incurred as a result of deaths attributed to COVID-19 that occurred after January 20, 2020.

Check where, when and how you can be vaccinated in your community and get more information through your local health department. Also, you can find a list of places where adults can be vaccinated (link in English).
