Federal judge puts Trump’s lawsuit against postal voting on hold

Postal voting is one of the incumbent US president’s favorite topics. Donald Trump never tire of spreading false information about the procedure. From a legal point of view, he and his team are also trying to get votes by letter to the Presidential election on November 3rd to complicate. But now there are signs of a setback on this front.

A US federal judge from the state of Pennsylvania ordered that the proceedings in the dispute over a ban on ballot boxes and changes to the postal voting process should be suspended for the time being.

The lawsuit filed by the US president’s campaign team will not move forward until similar proceedings are completed in state courts, said J. Nicholas Ranjan, US district judge for western Pennsylvania on Sunday. The lawsuit relates to state laws and he will therefore refer them to the state courts for the time being.

Trump’s team argues that the boxes for the election papers were not expressly approved in a bipartisan bill. In the complaint, Republicans also demand that the observer residency be lifted so that any Pennsylvania voter can serve as an observer at any polling station in the state.

Trump had repeatedly claimed that the postal voting system encouraged fraud. The federal judge asked the campaign team to submit relevant evidence. On the grounds that it wasn’t necessary to win the case, Trump’s team declined to submit evidence.

Twitter has issued a warning to the President’s embassy

Again and again, the president’s claims cause trouble on social media. It wasn’t until the weekend that Twitter had a message from Trump about allegedly planned election fraud with a warning notice.

In the tweet, Trump again claimed, without giving any valid reasons, that the Democrats wanted to use the increase in postal votes expected due to the corona pandemic for election fraud. Specifically, he called special mailboxes into which election papers can be thrown as a “disaster” with regard to security.

With a view to the coronavirus, which can trigger the disease Covid-19, Trump also wrote that the mailboxes were “not Covid-disinfected”. He also suggested that they were controlled by parties. “A big scam!” he wrote.
