FC St. Pauli snapped up their first new signing for the coming season early on: Connor Metcalfe came to Millerntor from Melbourne City FC.
Hamburg – Reinforcements at the Millerntor! the FC St. Pauli has signed Australia’s Connor Metcalfe (22) from Australian champions Melbourne City FC for the coming season.

Both clubs have agreed not to disclose the transfer of the 22-year-old central midfielder, as announced by the Kiezkicker.
He made 56 appearances for Melbourne City in the A-League, scoring eight goals and providing six assists. Metcalfe is part of the Australia national team squad, for which he has made two appearances so far.
“We are pleased that we can take a first step in our squad planning for the next season at an early stage. In Connor Metcalfe we were able to win a player who already has a high level of match practice at a young age, but at the same time still has one has a lot of potential for further development”, sports director Andreas Bornemann welcomed the newcomer.

Head coach Timo Schultz emphasized: “Connor Metcalfe can fill various positions in central midfield and will give us more options and flexibility for the coming season. He’s still young and we’ll have to give him some time to acclimatize after his move.”

But it shouldn’t be too difficult for him to get used to the situation, after all he’s meeting a teammate from the national team in Jackson Irvine.
